Something reminded me of that discussion of the contradictory nature of the four causes in the apologetics thread. Let’s see if we can put it to meaningful use.
christian theology: The efficient cause of evil in the world is Eve/women; the efficient cause of evil in women is satan; the efficient cause of evil in satan is god. But what causes sin? There are material causes (the biological components in women which weren’t yet triggered in the garden of Eden), form causes (the world’s geography is composed of elements that trigger starvation, or that put violent Muslims at your doorstep), efficient causes (Satan did it!), and final causes (it’s in our nature to be prone to evil).
The model sucks at explaining anything well, but to be fair it might be a good way to brainstorm four sets of somewhat different questions/answers.
Every cause ultimately ties back to the God who created everything. Fun questions off the top of my head:
What are the 4 causes of the apocalypse?
What are the 4 causes of Jesus’s resurrection?
What are the 4 causes of Satan?
What are the 4 causes of god’s evil nature?
What are the 4 causes of masturbation?
What are the 4 causes that make William Lane Craig lose debates?
(Notice you can cheat by inserting “God” for practically any answer!)
